Breezy Hill Farm Update Oct. 6, 2019

            BREEZY HILL FARM WEEKLY UPDATE

  • The last ground beef pickup went very well.  I have started a new list for the next round.
  • The guineas?  Remember, we hatched some, a guinea hen hatched some and a chicken hen hatched some.  We had 33.  We traded six to Virginia for some fryers.  That left 27.  Now after a visit from a raccoon, and and owl  we have sixteen.   That's enough but we have had several challenges. We had to adjust the automatic door to close sooner and open later in the morning to discourage/defeat the owl.
  • We will be weighing the beeves later this month.  They have done extremely well this year due to the timely rains and not too hot temperatures.  We should have plenty to fill all of the requests for freezer beef.
  • I have no names on the list for Dirt Hog pork.

Grass-fed beef represents a sought-after solution to unsustainable agricultural practices – one that could not only drastically reduce pollution but also produce a nutritionally superior meat
