Breezy Hill Update Apr. 26, 2021

Posted 4/26/2021 11:06pm by Art Ozias.

            BREEZY HILL FARM WEEKLY UPDATE

  • Kraut?  Yes, we make our own kraut.  We sold a bunch of units several years ago when we were selling A2 raw milk.  I hope those customers are still using the items.  They are so simple and the kraut, it is so good.  Store kraut is horrible.
  • I need to update my ground beef and dirt hog lists.  Please send me your requests and I will check to make sure my list is current.  I will keep the order that exists on my current order to insure you will maintain your place.
  • Strawberries are blooming and plants look great.  Anyone like strawberry shortcake and cream?
  • Asparagus and rhubarb are starting.  Isn't spring great?  I wish everyone could see Debra's greenhouse and her plants.  She has two green thumbs.
  • Our fruit trees had a lot of blooms ,and I think we dodged a bullet with the recent cold morning temperature.
  • Phil, the lilac bush is gorgeous this year.  I remember you used to enjoy the fragrance as Julie was picking up your weekly A2 raw milk
  • The barn swallows are here and there is a din in the barn.  They are busy setting up their nests.  Most are reusing old nests, but I'm sure there is some housekeeping necessary.
  • I'm still renovating pastures.  It is much more difficult this year since we have had so much rain.  Must do one tomorrow as it is now dry enough, and it is forecast to rain tomorrow night.
  • Purple martins have set up shop and have occupied their old homes.  The new gourds we added this year are still mostly empty.  I guess the ones that return were here last year.  I'm sure as the young hatch and mature they will inhabit the new houses and our martin colony will continue to grow.

THAT'S IT FROM THE HILL FOR THIS WEEK.  ART AND DEBRA
