Breezy Hill Update 51511

Posted 5/15/2011 11:28pm by Art Ozias.
  • We got our corn planted this week.  We also planted some milo. That will make some non GMO chicken feed.  We have had several small rain showers, so both should be up this week.
  • Replanted sweet corn, a row of green beans and all the tomatoes and peppers.  They are staked and mulched.  We'll be going to Morgan County Seed this week for our annual trip to the Mennonite community to get our sweet potato plants.
  • Have had two people call today wanting a family milk cow.  I think it is starting to catch on that having one's own control of their food supply is becoming more important.
  • We had a pot of homemade chili with a glass of milk this weekend. It was great.  Brown Swiss A2 milk is certainly a treat and a wonderful and nutritious food.
  • We are in the process of updating our web site.  Stay tuned.  When it is finished, I'll let you know.
  • We picked up two new milk customers this past week.  We could add one more customer as two of our regular customers will be gone for some time this summer.
  • How many of you visited the Kahn Academy web site?  I got my two lessons in this week.

Have you been noticing all the “feel good” ads on TV? The American Petroleum Institute, the Farm Bureau, the medical industry, and others.  Isn’t it interesting they are spending so much money to convince you that they are conducting their enterprises for “your benefit”.  If they truly were, they would not need to be positively reinforced so often.  The old adage “your actions speak louder than your words” comes to mind.

Top Ten Reasons to Eat Grassfed.  Here is number 3.

3.   Higher in vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)

The meat from the grassfed cattle is four times higher in vitamin E than meat from feedlot cattle and almost twice as high as meat from feedlot cattle that have been given vitamin E supplements.*

In humans, vitamin E is linked with a lower risk of heart disease and cancer. This potent antioxidant may also have anti-aging properties. Most Americans are deficient in vitamin E.

Vilsack has already ok’d the Round Up alfalfa.  What a shame.  Watch Dr. Huber here http://action.fooddemocracynow.org/sign/dr_hubers_warning/?akid=316.90529.cXzGO6&rd=1&t=1#who

AND READ THE INTERVIEW WITH ACRES.  Corporations rule and we lose.

Acres, USA has the interview with Dr Huber is a must read if you are following the GMO debate.  Here is the link  http://www.acresusa.com/magazines/magazine.html

Remember Pink Slime? If not, Google it or review a past Breezy Hill Update.  Now we have “meat glue”.  Just when you have heard the most ridiculous thing being done to our food, along comes “meat glue”.
