Farming Practices

Our cattle are never fed any grain. The herd is closed. That means we do not have to vaccinate, since disease is eliminated. We use no antibiotics and no hormones. We use non GMO grains when we can find them for our poultry. We plan to raise our own grains in the future, since finding non GMO grains is becoming very difficult. Our dairy cows have only grass, as well. "You can whip our cream, but you can't beat our milk"

Everything we do at Breezy Hill Farm is directed toward sustainability.  Our definition of sustainability is provided by Dr. John Ikerd in his recent book, Small Farms are Real Farms, where he defines agricultural sustainability as "ecologically sound, economically viable, and socially responsible".

We raise our own open pollinated field corn and milo for our poultry. We raise hard winter white wheat for baking, chicken feed and to sell for customers who bake their own breads.

The Certified Naturally Grown standards that we adhere to can be found at their web site.
